Biographical Note

Tina Mayfield (b. Earnestine Jermany 17 October 1929, d. 14 December 2006) ran a music agency called Mayfield Productions. She was widowed by Percy Mayfield and managed a number of artists, including Lowell Fulson.

Percy Mayfield (b. 12 August 1920, Minden, La., d. 11 August 1984, Los Angeles, Calif.) was a talented songwriter and singer. Known as the "Poet Laureate of the Blues," he wrote and arranged many works for Ray Charles, of which "Hit the Road Jack" is probably the most famous. His "Please Send Me Someone to Love" has been covered by a number of artists.

Lowell Fulson (b. 31 March 1921, Tulsa, OK, d. 7 March 1999, Long Beach, CA) was one of the most influential west coast blues guitarists. His song “Three O’Clock Blues” became B. B. King’s first number one hit, and his “Reconsider Baby” was covered by Elvis Presley.
