Modern Political Archives
Established in 2004 as a unit within the Department of Archives & Special Collections, the Modern Political Archives seeks to acquire, preserve and encourage research in private papers documenting Mississippians and their government at both the national and state levels.
Collecting parameters include the records of Mississippi’s congressional delegation, members of the state legislature, Mississippi political parties, political journalists and editorial cartoonists, voter registration and voter education organizations, and individuals or organizations having a significant impact on the federal or state government.
The Modern Political Archives is a nonpartisan entity and welcomes researchers of all ages and interests.
Information on all of the state’s delegation from 1801 to the present; historical map set of congressional districts; and information on members’ collections. The Mississippi Members of Congress database is currently unavailabe. The API for this application has changed. We hope to have it available again very soon. Thank you for your patience.
