Biographical Note

Hubert Gaither from Tupelo, Mississippi trained at Camp Pike, Arkansas and served in France during World War I. Hubert was the son of Ernest and Julia "Millie" Stone Gaither of Itawamba County, Mississippi.

Scope and Content Note

Many of the letters within the Stone-Gaither Collection are correspondence between Ernest and Millie Gaither about the time of their marriage in 1887; war letters of Hubert Gaither to and from Millie and his sister Ruth; and pre- and post-war Stone family correspondence, such as the letters of Orville and Mary Stone, who were Hubert Gaither’s aunt and uncle.
