Biographical Note

While living in the Mississippi capital during the Great Depression, Louis Cochran wrote a series of articles on Theodore G. Bilbo, Huey Long, Pat Harrison, and other politicians. In 1935, he became an agent of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, working in DC, Kansas City, St. Louis, and Los Angeles. During World War II, Cochran served in the intelligence sections of first the Army Air Corps and later the Air Force. In the midst of his various careers, Cochran also produced a number of novels, and in 1966 he published his memoir FBI Man: A Personal History.
