The Reverend Wofford K. Smith was the University of Mississippi Episcopal Chaplain during the integration crisis in 1962.
He was a supporter of integration. Rev. Smith left the University of Mississippi for the University of Maryland, retiring
as chaplain emeritus in 1986. Smith died 10 August 1990.
The Reverend Wofford K. Smith Collection contains mainly correspondence and newspaper clippings relating to the integration
of the University of Mississippi and contemporaneous activities of the University of Mississippi's Episcopal Chaplain. These
materials provide details of integrationist attitudes and support.
