Historical Note
William Doyle's American Insurrection: James Meredith and the Battle of Oxford, Mississippi, 1962, is an historic account of James Meredith's journey to integrate the University of Mississippi on 30 September 1962, which exploded into a violent conflict between federal and state authorities in Mississippi.
Scope and Content Note
Includes research notes and subject files for William Doyle's American Insurrection: James Meredith and the Battle of Oxford, Mississippi, 1962, including materials on the integration, riot, aftermath. Materials include information on politicians and segregationist groups, as well. Also includes some materials on the University Greys.
