Historical Note
The Department of Archives and Special Collections at the University of Mississippi
is located within J.D. Williams Library, the main library on the university's campus.
The department was organized in 1975 "to acquire, conserve, and make accessible rare
books, manuscripts, maps, visual and audio materials, and ephemera related to the
University of Mississippi, the state of Mississippi, and the Blues." (From departmental website)
