Historical Note

Founded in 1975, Yoknapatawpha Press is a southern regional small press which publishes works by southern writers. It was founded by the late Dean Faulkner Wells and Lawrence Wells, who served as co-publishers and editors, and is owned and operated by Lawrence Wells. Yoknapatawpha Press is named for William Faulkner's fictional county, Yoknapatawpha, from the Chickasaw word meaning "gentle water."
