Biographical Note

Eudora Welty (1909-2001) was a native of Jackson, Miss. Welty, a prolific short-story writer and novelist, was awarded the Pulitzer Prize in 1973 for her novel The Optimist's Daughter. Welty also received the Presidential Medal of Freedom, among numerous other awards.


Scope and Content Note

The collection contains a typescript version of a short story titled "Spring," by Eudora Welty. The story would later be published as "Ladies in Spring."
