Biographical Note
Borden Deal was born in Pontotoc, Miss., in 1922. He worked as a firefighter, at a lumber mill, harvesting wheat, and at assorted other occupations before before deciding to dedicate himself to writing full time in 1956. He wrote numerous short stories that appeared in national publications. Deal also authored twenty-one novels, including Walk Through The Valley (1956) and The Tobacco Men (1965). He died of a heart attack in Sarasota, Fla., in 1985.
