Biographical Note

Dr. Thomas Cleveland was the president of the University of Mississippi's Associated Student Body in 1963-64. At the fortieth anniversary of James Meredith's admission, Dr. Cleveland donated the correspondence he and his predecessor, Richard Wilson, received during that period. The letters and their enclosures represent the various opinions of individuals on the integration of the campus. Included in the collection are petitions sent to Ole Miss students by faculty and students at other universities across the nation.
