Item 47. "Men With Little Hammers. New York: The Dial Press, Inc., 1969. (There would appear to be no one complete version of this novel. Here, it has been separated into 94 folders. The general practice used has been to deal with the sections - "Books" - and then chapters within the three Books. Bulk holograph material has been dealt with separately, toward the end of this particular "Item run." This itemized list is a tentative effort to put the novel into parts and, to an extent, place these parts in the sequence in which they were written. This effort - it cannot be too strongly emphsized - makes no pretention toward being a definite and orderly file, that is, a logical description of the creative process by which Mr. Canzoneri wrote his nove. At best, it is a separation, and evenon this point there is no pretention as to exactitude. All that can be hoped is that this arrangement may be of some use to a scholar.)
Novel. Miscellaneous pages. The material appears to bear no resemblance to any part of the published work (Dr. Pullman comparing the "tone" of the day, and of objects, to the style of various painters, amy have its parallel in Book One, Chapter 4, " The Dye Is Cast.") 5 pieces.
