Abstract: |
Hallie Buie, native of Caseyville, Mississippi, was a Methodist missionary and an
educator in Korea for 30 years. The collection contains letters and sympathy cards
written to Buie's sister, Prential Buie Rew, at the time of Buie's death; a manuscript
of an unpublished book written by Buie relating her experiences as a missionary in
Korea; articles from the The Korea Mission Field newsletter; and other materials.

Biographical Note
Hallie Buie, native of Caseyville, Mississippi, was a Methodist missionary in Korea
for 30 years. During her service in Korea, Buie worked as head of a girls' school.
Buie was also a licensed minister of the Methodist Church in Korea. She died in 1949,
at age 71, in Brookhaven, Mississippi.
Scope and Content Note
Box 1 of the collection contains letters and cards written to Buie’s sister, Prential
Buie Rew, at the time of Hallie Buie's illness and death; clippings of Buie's obituary;
a signed register book from the Brookhaven funeral home; and a manuscript of an unpublished
book written by Buie relating her experiences as a missionary in Korea. The second
box contains articles from a newsletter, The Korea Mission Field, as well as several other religious publications.
