Mississippi Members of Congress
The Mississippi Members of Congress database provides basic information on everyone who has represented the state in the U.S. Congress from 1801 to the present. Although it has various uses, the Modern Political Archive created the tool primarily to help researchers locate appropriate congressional collections for their specific area of interest. Only two collections per member are featured. For more resources, consult the Congressional Biographical Dictionary link below.
You may conduct a full-text search of the database using keywords (for example, searching “veteran” to locate members of veterans committees), or you may refine the search by targeting a specific year or party affiliation; by limiting the search to those members with a collection; or by focusing only on delegates, U.S. Representatives, or U.S. Senators. To restart a search, simply click on “Reset All Filters.”
The database also includes a historically accurate map set, depicting Mississippi’s congressional districts across time, allowing you to identify the geographical compositions of congressional districts during a specific era.
