Historical Note

The University of Mississippi’s Afro-American Studies program was founded in 1970
as an academic unit of the university’s College of Liberal Arts. Its name was changed
to African-American Studies in 1983 and it now operates with departmental status.


Scope and Content Note

The collection contains eleven issues, 1989-1993, of The Vision, the newsletter of the Afro-American Studies (now African-American Studies) program
at the University of Mississippi.
