Historical Note
The Women’s Book Club of Oxford, Mississippi was founded in 1895 by women in the Oxford community. The club members gathered at each
other’s homes to discuss books and plan service projects, which included supporting a French child who lost his father during
World War I.
Scope and Content Note
The Women’s Book Club of Oxford, Mississippi Collection includes the yearly programs outlining the books read, meeting minutes, biographies
of members, service projects and miscellaneous material. Also includes correspondence between members and biographical sketches
of members. Of particular note are the materials related to the Women’s Book Club of Oxford, Mississippi’s work with Fatherless Children
of France, circa World War I.
