Biographical Note
Colonel Felix LaBauve is known as the “father of scholarships” at the University of Mississippi. He is believed to be the
first man to establish a scholarship program at a state-supported institution of higher learning in Mississippi.
Scope and Content
The Felix LaBauve Collection contains a citation of honor signed by Napoleon Bonaparte attesting the presentation of a “Sword
of Honor” to Colonel Felix LaBauve. Also included are handwritten notes from LaBauve, his service record, and naturalization
papers.
