Biographical Note
University of Mississippi alumnus and attorney, Louis M. Jiggitts studied at St. John’s College, Oxford, as a Rhodes Scholar.
Jiggitts served in the U.S. Army during World War I, stationed at Camp Perry, Ohio.
Scope and Content Note
Collection contains correspondence written during Jiggins’ tenure as a Rhodes scholar at Oxford University. Box 2 contains
copies of
The Mississippian, on which Jiggitts worked.
For researchers investigating the homefront during World War I, the collection contains correspondence from 1917-1918 between
Louis M. Jiggitts, writing from Camp Perry, Ohio, to his parents in Canton, Mississippi. It also contains a typed list of
Aviation Examining Boards with Physical Examining Unit Attached,
A Soldier’s Handbook on the Rifle and Score Book for Special Course C Arranged for the United States Rifle Model of 1917, and Lieutenant Louis M. Jiggitts’
Book of Common Prayer.
