Historical Note
The First National Bank of Oxford was founded in 1910 and remains in operation. The bank’s first president was John Wesley
Thompson Falkner, grandfather of author William Faulkner. Faulkner himself worked in the bookkeeping department of First National
in 1918.

The collection contains ledgers and various accounts of the First National Bank of Oxford (Miss.), 1910-1957. The volume containing
entries for 1918 contains notations by William Faulkner, who worked at the bank.
