The meeting was called to order by Mr. Gordon Grogan and was opened by with prayer b Mr. T.W. Sullivan.

The Nomination Committee brought a recommendation in the form of a motion that Rudolph Lawrence be elected Secretary. The motion was seconded and carried.

The Charter and By-Laws were read by Ray Owens.

Mr. Gordon Grogan representing the Nomination Committee made a motion that the following men serve as the Governing Board:

John Warren, B.H. Thompson
Raymond Grogan, L.W. Everett
Lacy Jones, Retus Madden
Jerry Windham, Charles Black
W.A. Lindsey, A.R. Bates
John Maddox, Joe Heath

Motion was seconded and carried.

Mr. W.A. Dick, National President, made a talk on organization and aims of the A.P.W.R.

Mr. Gary of the Gary Slaughter House said we could not meet on his property any more. The next meeting will be in the Odd Fellows Hall at 906 North State Street. Rent on this building is $50.00 per month. This amount was approved by the membership.

Meeting closed with a prayer by Mr. Jack Sharrer.

June 2, 1964

The regular meeting of the A.P.W.R. was held Tuesday, June 2, 1964, in the Odd Fellows Hall, 906 North State Street, with the President, Ray Owens, presiding. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.

Raymond Grogan read “Know Your Enemy.” Bill Fitzhugh led in prayer.

Bill Fitzhugh of Delta Motor Lines read scripture and made talk concerning conditions of today.

The Treasurer’s report was given by Gene Sant. The Charter was read by John Warren and comments on race situation.

Mr. Rogers, Vice-President, read the By-Laws and opened the meeting for membership.

Mr. Warren asked for twelve volunteers to investigate four complaints.

Motion was made by H.C. Rogers that officers get prices on printing equipment and do as they see fit. Seconded by Joe Gordon and carried.

Motion was made by Phil Sykes, Jr., that we put “If God be for us who can be against us” on our letterhead. Motion was seconded by Gordon Grogan and carried.

Phil Sykes, Jr., closed the meeting with a prayer.

JUNE 9, 1964

The regular meeting of the A.P.W.R. was held Tuesday June 9, 1964, in the Odd Fellows Hall, 906 North State Street, with the President, Ray Owens, presiding.

Phil Sykes Jr. lead in prayer and read Scripture. He also made talk to the organization.

Rudy Lawrence Read part of Operation Freedom. Mississippi 1964 NAACP lititure form the Masonic Temple Lynch Street.

Dr. Ney Williams made talk on Communism and Race Situation.

The Minutes were read by the secretary and approved.

The Charter was read by Thomas Rogers.

Reports from the Governing Board.

A collection was taken up to pay for the printing press. $126.00 was taken up.

A motion made by Gordon Grogan to send letters to the Board of Trustees of Ole Miss asking them to release Professor Silver (name hand-written in blank, second blank left empty) This motion seconded and carried.

A Motion made by mr Bethany and seconded by Mr. W.W. Collins that a pass word or emblem be suggested at the next state meeting. This motion carried.

A motion made by George Vickory that members give their names, addresses and where they work. Seconded and carried.

The meeting was dismissed by Bert Fitzhugh with prayer.

The treasurer’s report was given by Rudy Lawrence. Ray Ownes asked for a membership drive. The meeting was opened for membership.

Mr. Wilson led in Prayer.

Ray Owens expressed a welcome to Newspaper and News men and explained some of the material that was given out to the members.

We were shown a film on how the communists take a country over.

Report was given by Mr. Pickel.

Treasurer report was given by Rudy Lawrence.

The meeting was adjurned by opening it for membership.

The meeting was opened for the election of officers.
Ray Owens nominated for president by Neal Grogan. Motion to close nomination by Mr. Speed and Seconded by Grodan Grogan.

Gordan Grogan nominated for Vice-President by Mr. Lumpkin. Motion to close nomination by Mr. Rogers seconded by Mr. Speed.

Rudolph Lawrence nominated for Secretary by Gordan Grogan. Motion to close by John Maddox seconded by Mr. John Pattrick.

Bert Fitzhugh nominated for Treasurer by Tom Crawford. Motion to close by Gordan Grogan Seconded by John Maddox.

These above were elected without opposition/

Document 8: TM. July 21, 1964

AMERICANS FOR THE PRESERVATION OF THE WHITE RACE
July 21, 1964

The regular meeting of the A.P.W.R. was held Tuesday night July 21, 1964 in the Odd Fellows Lodge Hall, 906 North State Street, with President Ray Owens presiding.

The meeting was called to order by President Owens, and the meeting was opened by a prayer. The minutes were then read.

Mr. Fitzhugh read an A.P.W.R. news release.

President Owens read a letter addressed to the Hinds County chapter from an individual in Mass. This letter showed how the A.P.W.R. in needed in the North as well as the south.

A letter written to Mayor Allen C. Thompson was read to the meeting. The letter condemned his action on the Civil Rights BILL. The letter was passed around and signed (when the letter was mailed it contained over 150 signatures.

Another news release was read; this one condemned the M.P.E.

R.E. Ownby read information concerning Martin L. King. He also read a “letter to the editor”. This letter was from a young girl in Calf. The letter was very vicious to Mississippi.

Grogan then read the A.P.W.R. by-laws.

A Motion was then made to purchase more chairs. This was seconded. Then Mr. Robert Philips offered to bring 20 to 40 more chairs each week. This was accepted.

Dismissal by prayer.

Then new Members of the A.P.W.R. were registered.

JULY 28, 1964

The regular meeting of the A.P.W.R. was held Tuesday night July, 28, 1964 in the Odd Fellows Lodge Hall, 906 North State Street. With President Ray Owens presiding.

The meeting was scalled to order by President Owens, and the meeting was opend by prayer. The minutes were then read.

President Owens read a letter to the chapter from Mass.

President Owens also read some literature by Gerald L.K. Smith.

A motion was made to purchase an ad in the daily paper. The ad was read and voted upon. It was accepted and bought.

The record Mississippi was played.

An article from the Sat. Evening Post was read.

Mr. Pickle reported on the State Democratic Convention.

Resturants were named that are residting the Civil rights Law.

Pres. Owens talked about the effectiveness of the A.P.W.R.

The meeting was closed by prayer.

AMERICANS FOR THE PRESERVATION OF THE WHITE RACE
August 4, 1964

The regular meeting of the A.P.W.R. was held Tuesday night Aug.4 in the Odd Fellows Lodge Hall, 906 North State St. with President Ray Owens presiding.
The meeting was called to order by Pres. Owens, and then opened by prayer.

The chapter then listened to Judge McGowan as he said, “I URGE EVERY ONE HERE TO INFORM YOUSELF.”

Mr. Nay Williams then spoke. In his talk he outlined the principales which make up a conservative. He spoke on the present political situation in Miss.

The matter of the situation at Morris Pharacy was discussed. It was reported that two negros were hired at the Soda Fountain.

The call was made to volonters to investigate complaints. About 15 men were assigned duties.

A general discussion of current events followed.

The meeting was closed.

The regular meeting of the APWR was held Tuesday night August 11, 1964 with President Ray Owens presiding.
The meeting was called to order by President Owens and Ray Sherren led in prayer.
President Owens introduced State President of the APWR Mr Roland Scott. Mr. Scott told some of the history and purpose of the APWR. He told of the beginning of a Newspaper called the AMERICAN PATRIOT.
Subscriptions for this paper was taken up.
The meeting was then closed.

Report on the violence and trip to New York by Rudy Lawrence.
Mr. Snoweed made a report on the Thunderbolt Paper of the National States Right Party.
Mr. Wall gave a report on the raids on the Robert E. Lee Hotel.
Reports on what several had seen around town.
Report by Governing board on Jack’s with the recommendation that no action be taken. Group voted not to take any action at present time.
Dismissed by Robert Wilson with Prayer.

Minutes: For the Americans for the Preservation of the White Race

September 29, 1964

The regular meeting of the APWR was held Tuesday night September 29, 1964.

President Ray Owens called the meeting to order.

Secretary opened with a prayer.

Secretary Rudy Lawrence resigned as secretary and was appointed Chapter Printer. Rodger Earle Ownby was nominated for secretary and elected without opposition.

This night was designated as election night according to the by-laws of APWR. The floor was opened to nomination for three members of the board.
I. Mr. Pickle was renominted by Mr. Raymond Grogan and seconded by Mr. Robert Wall. Charles Jones moved the nominations be closed and the motion was seconded. Mr. Pickle unanimously was elected.
II. Mr. Maddox was renominated by Mr. Robert Wall and seconded by Raymond Grogan. John Holly moved the nominations be closed and the motion was seconded by Bill Collins. Mr. Maddox was unanimously elected.
III. Charles Jones was renominted by John Holly and seconded by R. Grogan. Wall moved the nominations be closed and was seconded by G. Grogan.

Elections were completed.

Mr. Raymond Grogan reported on the results of Mrs. Stratton’s Salads Co. The report was favorable. (A NAACP Negro employee was fired).

President Ray Owens spoke on the necessity of revitalizing the Jackson Chapter APER.

A special offering was raised. Meeting closed by prayer.

Document 15: TM. October 6, 1964

Minutes: For the Americans for the Preservation of the White Race

October 6, 1964

The regular meeting of the APWR was held Tuesday night October 6, 1964.

President Ray Owens called the meeting to order.

Jack Shearer opened the meeting with prayer. A film was shown on Communism.

Mr. Gorden Grogan turned his resignation in to the Jackson Chapter noting that he has been appointed and is one of the state organisers. Jack Shearer moved to accept this resignation, this was seconded by Mr. Fitzhue. Nominations were then opened for Vice President. Mr. Fitzhue nominated Mr. Robert Wall, this seconded by Mr. Ownby. Mr. Maddox made the motion opposed the floor to nomination. Mr. Wall was elected without opposition. Mr. Wall stated his appreciation to Mr. Grogan and all the work he had done for the Chapter.

President Ray Owens urged that rumors concerning the integrity of members in this organization not be gossiped and spread about.

Organization discussed the building plans and requested suggestions.

President Owens suggested that the printing press be moved to Mr. Grogan’s shop. Mr. Gather Overby made this statement into a motion which was seconded by Mr. R. Wilson.

Mr. Jack Shearer made the suggesion that the Chapter begin a library.

Dr. Ney Willaims and canidacy was discussed. Mr. Owens, Wall, and Ownby discussed this issue. The meeting was closed by prayer.

Minutes: AMERICANS FOR THE PRESERVATION OF THE WHITE RACE

October 13, 1964

Vice President Robert Wall called the meeting to order.
Jack Sherrer oopened with prayer.
Mr. Wilson read the Article WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN HHH AND A SOCIALIST by Tom Anderson.
V.P.-Wall read a letter found on a Negro-COFO worker. Mr. Allen offered to print 1000 copies for this chapter.
Mr. David Sadler, Att. spoke. Mr. T.J. Sullivan presented a resolution to the Chapter that Mr. Sadler be hired as the Chapter’s retaining Attornery, this was seconded by Mr. Wilson. This resolution was voted on and passed.
The meeting was closed with prayer.

Oct. 20, 1964

Ray Owens called the meeting to order. Mr. Jack Sherrer opened with prayer.
Minutes were read and approved.
Mr. Fitzhue gave a treasurery report.
City of Jackson Chapter was required to appoint a newsreporter for the AMERICAN PATRIOT NEWSPAPER.
Mr. Pickle nomonated Donald Byrd
Rudy Lawrence 2nd. He was voted on and accepted.
Building project discussed by Mr. Pickle
Mr. Robert Wall suggested a “Decleration of Intention” of the APWR
Mr. Bains made this into a motion and was 2nd by Rudy Lawrence.
Meeting closed with prayer.

Pres. Ray Owens called the meeting to order.
Jack Sherrer opened with prayer.
Guest speaker John Rees spoke. Mr. Rees gave a very patriotic and inspiring speach.
Pres. Owens again appealed to members to stop gossoping.
Meeting closed with prayer.

Vice President Robert Wall called the meeting to order. Mr. T.J. Sullivan led in prayer.
Vice President Wall introduced Dr. Curtis Cain. Dr. Cain spoke and stated that each person in attendence needed to inform himself.
Owens and Wall read a news release.
Meeting closed with prayer.

November 17, 1964

Mr. Pickle opened the meeting. Jack Sherrer led in prayer.
R.E. Ownby read minutes of last meeting.
Jack Sherrer reported on speach and meeting at Freeney, Miss.
Mr. Sherrer urged everyone to register and vote.
Mr. T.J. Sullivan reported on Tom Marshell’s part of the program at Freeney.
Mr. Sullivan made a motion for someone to see George Bell and arrange for some advertising on his T.V. program. This was seconded by Ownby. This motion passed and Mr. Warren was to do this and report back the next week.
Mr. Maddox spoke on recent decisions of the Suppreme Court.
Jack Sherrer made motion to purchase U.S. flag. Seconded by Mr. Wilson. Motion passed.
Mr. Sullivan made the motion the the State Organizor, Gorden Grogan, be assigned to appoint 3 men to searve on a speaking committie. This was seconded by Mr. Pickle. The motion passed. Meeting closed by prayer.

Document 21: TM. November 24, 1964

AMERICANS FOR THE PRESERVATION OF THE WHITE RACE (JACKSON)
November 24, 1964

Pres. Ray Owens called the meeting to order. Jack Sherrer led in prayer.
Gorden Grogan made a motion that the secretary and the attorney would write a letter to be sent to all the members of the Miss. legislature to oppose House bill 564 (Governors Police Powers). this motion was seconded by John Patrick.
Mr. Wall read a letter written by a Negro to the local TB Headquarters refusing to give money because the stamps had no negros on them.
Mr. M. Tatum then spoke.
Mr. Neal Grogan asked for a temp. leave of absence. Motion was made by Patrick to accept his request. this was seconded by Mr. Fitzhue.

Mr. Scott also gave suggestions on methods of raising money to establish private schools.
Mr. Meredith Tatum presented a progress report on the establishment of an association of private school.
Motion made by Mr. Tatum to appoint a committee to make a survey of all establishments that display and sell vulgar reading material. Names of dealers and retailers to be submitted at next meeting.

Report by Bill Pickel on Fayette trip Saturday, outlining action which took place at meeting of mayor and merchants with A.P.W.R. at city hall Sat. Evening. Emphasis made on trading at Fayette to defeat the Negro Boycott before it succeeds in moving up the Miss. River as planned. Suggestion by President Grogan to contact all membership and see where they stand. This motion made by Mr. Haynes, seconded by Mr. Smiley, carried unanimous.

President Grogan opened the meeting by reading scripture from the New Testement. (Matthew 20:1-16)
A short talk was given by President Grogan concerning the scripture and how it applies to present problems.
Minutes of previous meeting were read by Mr. Bill Pickel.
Report by Mr. Pickel on Saturday’s trip to Fayette. Mr. Pickel outlined the activities which occured at a meeting of the mayer, merchants, and APWR officials at the Fayette City Hall Saturday evening. Particular emphasis was placed on trading in Fayette in order to defeat the Negro boycott before it succeeds in moving up the Mississippi River as planned by Negro leaders.
A suggestion was made President Grogan to contact entire membership of APWR and see where they stand on this issue.
This suggestion was made into a motion by Mr. Haynes and seconded by Mr. Smiley.
Motion passed by chapter.
Mrs. Allen nominated to serve on calling committee.

Mr. Tatum read a letter of appreciation from the merchants of Fayette empressing their gratitude for an to the participants in the white buy-in.
Mr. Tatum also spoke on the degrading influences on the teen-agers of our city and state and subsequent results of these influences. Pending legislation before our legislature was discussed briefly.

Meeting called to order by acting chairman Bill Pickel.
Chapter led in prayer y Mr. Jack Shearer.
Report of President Grogan’s new son given by Mr. Pickel.
Letter from Jackson seperate school district read by Mr. Robert Wilson, telling of desegregation of schools for year of 1966-1967. Mr. Wilson brought up question of private schools pointing out the possibility of A.P.W.R. supporting private school.
Minutes of previous meeting read by secretary.
Approved by chapter.
Treasury report given by Mr. Bethany — told after last meeting in May chapter would have to leave Lodge as meeting place.
Mr. Pickel told of new location found by president Grogan. Ask chapter to consider shortage of seating at new meeting hall.
[following entry crossed out] Mr. Waldrop asked to explain his position as not being able to take secretariet position permanently.
Mr. Pickel opened the floor to possible comments [begin page two] on what to do to control integration of public schools
Mr. Shearer suggested chapter writer to Mayor Allen Thompson, two city commissioners, Congressional representatives, Governor Johnson and Lieutenant Governor Gartin protesting new school desegregation policy.
Mr. Shearer put suggestion in form of motion and suggested Mr. Greaves and Tatum to write letter. Motion seconded by Mr. and adopted by chapter.
Mr. Pickle pointed out that FBI was being pressured to produce evidence and was forced to resort to violence.

Report given by Mr. Robert Wilson on apathetic attitude of people of Mississippi + brief summary of Rhodesian situation. Told of situation in Vicksburg, Brookhaven.
President Grogan told of plans report by “Committee of concerned Citizens” of Nigger principal of whiten junior high school next year
Letter read in full by Mr. Pickle
President Grogan told of integrated conditions at Hinds General and Baptist hospitals.
Mrs. Allen gave report on cumpulsory school education telling that bill could not pass legislature.
Mr. Wilson told of bill which might come up to abolish public education in Mississippi [begin page two] which might turn education over to federal government.
Chapter discussed possibilities and problems of news release on cumpulsory school attendance.
Mr. Wilson told of small community which is richest community in world had been given $75,000 by warren poverty to build swimming pools.
