Biographical Note
C.E. Colbert graduated from the University of Mississippi in 1916. He and his wife owned a grocery store in Trebloc, Miss.
His great-grandfather was George W. Campbell, an early settler of Noxubee County, Miss.
Scope and Content Note
The collection contains miscellaneous documents of historical importance, including a facsimile of a letter written by Henry
Clay; land grants issued by Presidents John Quincy Adams and Martin Van Buren; slave bills of sale, and various other documents.

Custodial History
The papers in this collection were handed down to C.E. Colbert via his great-grandfather George W. Campbell, an early settler
of Noxubee County, Miss., and a witness to the signing of the Treaty of Dancing Rabbit Creek.
