Physical Accessibility
The University of Mississippi Libraries are committed to ensuring that facilities are accessible in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act. The libraries are equipped with ramps, electronic doors, and elevators. Detailed accessibility information is available for both the J.D. Williams Library and the Science Library.

Material Retrieval Assistance

Archives & Special Collections
Located on the third floor of the J.D. Williams Library, the Archives & Special Collections department houses rare and fragile materials that may not be accessible on assistive equipment. For assistance, contact Greg Johnson, Head of Archives & Special Collections.
Audio-Visual Materials
Faculty are responsible for ensuring that course-related audio-visual materials are accessible. For assistance, contact Judy Greenwood, Head of Access Services, or the Office of Student Disability Services.

Library Instruction and Borrowing
Instruction Sessions

Proxy Borrower Cards
Users with disabilities may request Proxy Borrower Cards, allowing others to check out materials on their behalf. Contact Judy Greenwood for more information.
Exceptions to Circulation Policies
Exceptions to circulation policies may be granted to accommodate specific access needs. Contact the appropriate circulation desk for more information.
Interlibrary Loan (ILL)
ILL services are available to all students, faculty, and staff. Users with special needs can request items in accessible formats. For assistance, contact Judy Greenwood.

Assistive Technology
Assistive technology equipment is available in both the J.D. Williams and Science libraries. In the Williams Library, stations are available on the first floor near the main circulation desk and in the Baxter Room on the second floor. The first floor station has an adjustable table that can be electronically raised and lowered. The Science Library also has an adjustable table. The libraries’ accessibility stations are equipped with scanners and trackballs. Please bring a pair of headphones or ear-buds if you would like to use any of the text-to-speech features. Additionally, if you are a Dragon user, you might want to bring a flash drive to import and/or export your profile.
Software
All stations are running the Windows 10 operating system. In addition to the standard productivity and learning software available on other library computers, these stations also have the following applications:
