Circulation & Access Services

Circulation & Access Services allow library users to borrow and access materials, including book checkouts, renewals, reserves, off-campus access, electronic resources, and building management.

  • These services are available whenever the library is open, except during Finals, when the service desks close at midnight.

Library services are a collaborative effort between students, faculty, and staff. A student may check out your books, a staff member may assist with login issues, and a faculty librarian may help troubleshoot database access.

 

Returning Books

Borrowers must return materials by the due date and time listed. To ensure safe return, items should be brought back in person. Do not ask someone else to return them for you. You are fully responsible for all library materials checked out in your name.

In-Person Returns

Items may be returned to any of the following service points:


• West Circulation Desk
   (Fountain side of J.D. Williams Library)

• East Circulation Desk
   (Lyceum side of J.D. Williams Library)

• Science Library Circulation Desk

Short-Term Loans / Reserve Items

Short-term loan materials, such as items placed on reserve, need to be returned to the same service point where the item was checked out.

  • Loans must be checked in on time, there is no grace period on fines for reserves.

Book Drop

A secure book drop is located near the library at the corner of Dormitory Row North & Dormitory Row West.


DO NOT place in the book drop:

• Interlibrary Loan materials
• Reserve items
• Video materials

  • Do not leave books on top of or beside the Book Drop if it is full.

Circulation & Access Service Points

Get assistance with checkouts, returns, renewals, fines, and access at service points in J.D. Williams and the Science Library.

West Circulation Desk

Located inside the west doors (fountain side) of J.D. Williams Library, this is the primary circulation and access service point.


Services include:

• Checking materials in and out
• Renewals
• Paying library fines
• Addressing access issues


This desk also serves as the Reserve Desk and headquarters for Collection & Stacks Maintenance.

East Circulation Desk

Located inside the east doors (Lyceum side) of J.D. Williams Library, this is a secondary circulation and access service point.


Services include:

• Checking materials in and out
• Renewals

  • East Doors (Lyceum side) of J.D. Williams Library

The Science Library Circulation Desk

The Science Library provides circulation services for:

• The School of Pharmacy
• The Department of Chemistry
• The Department of Biochemistry
• The Natural Products Center


Services and policies align with J.D. Williams Library, but materials are picked up, delivered, and checked out at the Science Library.
