Third Floor Map Description – J.D. Williams Library
The third floor of the J.D. Williams Library. The central stairs are located on the left side of the map.Entering from the central stairs, to the left are four freestanding bookshelves known as the Abadie Reading Nook, which contains University of Mississippi faculty publications. Slightly behind the stairs on the left are shelves for A through AP and the Juvenile Collection. Behind those shelves along the wall are faculty carrels and Room 300A, which is the lactation room. Two elevators are located slightly past the central stairs to the left, across from the A through AP shelves.
To the right of the central stairs are two rows of shelves for AP through DS. Three hallways run around these shelves. The first hallway, slightly past the stairs to the right, contains tables and chairs and ends at the 301 Group Study Room. The second hallway runs through the middle of the shelves. The third hallway runs along the far end of the shelves and ends at a stairwell.
Around the corner from the A through AP shelves is an accessible men’s restroom, with a stairwell around another corner. Around the corner from the AP through DS shelves is an accessible women’s restroom, also with a nearby stairwell. Past the men’s accessible restroom are shelves for HG through HX. On the far wall across from these shelves is a hallway that leads to another section of the third floor.
Across from the women’s accessible restroom are shelves for HF through HG, with an elevator located on the far wall. Next to the women’s accessible restroom are shelves for DS through E. Beyond these are shelves for E through GV on the right and GV through HF on the left. A stairwell is located in the far corner near the E through GV shelves, and the 302 Group Study Room is located in the far corner near the GV through HF shelves.
The other section of the third floor includes a hallway with offices on the left, including an emergency exit–only stairwell. This is followed by the Jesse White Room, which contains tables and chairs for studying. Across from the Jesse White Room is a hallway with stairs that provides access to the mezzanine. Past the Jesse White Room on the left are administrative offices, followed by the Harrison Room. Next to the Harrison Room are stairs leading near the second-floor Lyceum entrance/exit.
On the opposite side of these stairs are the Archives and Special Collections rooms, including the Faulkner Room. Across from the stairs are carrels and exhibits, and beyond those are accessible restrooms, with the women’s restroom located closest to the Archives and Special Collections entrance.
