J.D. Williams Library IDEAlab

The mission of the J.D. Williams Library Makerspace is to foster an active learning environment that inspires curiosity, exploration, critical thought, and innovative uses of technology that complement multidisciplinary curricular activities. The Science Library Makerspace cultivates discovery and hands-on learning that enhances intellectual curiosity and student success. The Makerspace is open to all UM students, staff, faculty, and affiliates for educational, non-commercial purposes.

The IDEA Lab at J.D. Williams Library is a multimedia lab designed to prepare college students for 21st century job skills by exposing them to new technology.

The following technology software resources list is compiled to provide you with suggestions for web-based, downloadable, open source, freeware and low-cost software to use on your personal devices. Some may be accessible in the IDEA Lab, see above for more details.

    The University of Mississippi J.D. Williams Library offers a wide range of machines including 3-D printers, iPads, tools, sewing machines, etc. This web page will give you more information regarding the machines at the MakerSpace.     Loaded with a variety of apps. Available for 3D scanning and stop animation projects.
