Government Documents: Internet Use Policy

  1. The University of Mississippi’s John Davis Williams Library, a Regional Federal Depository Library, provides the general public free access to Federal Depository Library Program (FDLP) information on the Internet.
  2. The number of available workstations will be sufficient to serve the UM community and the general public effectively. Use may be unmediated or mediated, for patrons requiring assistance or access via special passwords to certain sites.
  3. Access to J.D. Williams Library workstations for FDLP information is identical to that for other information.
  4. The J.D. Williams Library does not use filtering software on any of its workstations. However, use of the workstations is subject to the IT Acceptable Use Policy of the University of Mississippi.
  5. Downloading of FDLP information is permitted on library workstations to media provided by the patrons. Temporary file storage to the desktop is also available. All library patrons are charged $ .15 per black/white page for printing from public workstations.
  6. In accordance with general library policy, access to e-mail is available on all workstations, and e-mailing Internet, online catalog, and database research results is facilitated. FTP capabilities may be activated on request.
  7. Access to FDLP Internet resources is facilitated though the library’s web pages for government information and regional depository services. Links to specific electronic documents are provided through the library’s online catalog.
