Dr. Warren Steel recently retired from the University of Mississippi, where he taught courses in music history, ethnomusicology, organ, and harpsichord. He holds degrees from Harvard College and the University of Michigan. His most recent book is The Makers of the Sacred Harp (University of Illinois, 2010). If you can’t hear him around town performing with the Mockingbird early music ensemble, you can listen to his organ CD Baroque Pearls: Rediscovered Gems from France and Spain (Centaur, 2006).
