Harrison Room

The J.D. Williams Library has a number of event spaces. The event spaces are used primarily by for Library events however, event spaces are are available to the University Community for certain type of events. Please note the use policies for the event spaces listed below.

Desktop Classroom 106 E

Classroom 106E

This classroom is a 24-seat desktop lab with 24 computers, located on the library’s first floor. There are two large wall monitor screens linked to the instructor podium. Information on printing and programs available on public computers may be found in more detail on the web page “Computing in the Library.” The library will not install any additional software; outside software is automatically deleted within 24 hours. Bring your faculty/staff ID and a printout of your email confirmation to the main circulation desk on the first floor to check out the room key.

Directions:Enter the J.D. Williams Library from the West (fountain) side or come down the stairs if you enter from the second floor. Go into the Information Commons and turn away from the Reference Desk. Library Classroom 106D is at the far end of the hall on your left.

Faulkner Room

Bust of Falkner

The Faulkner Room is named after William Faulkner, an American writer and Nobel Prize laureate from Oxford, Mississippi. The room can comfortably seat about 80 people and it is used primarily for Special Collections presentations, brown bags, and selected public events. There is a computer, projector, and screen in this room. If you are interested in using this room for a public University related event, please contact Archives and Special Collections.

DIRECTIONS: Enter the J.D. Williams Library from the West (fountain) side and come up the elevator or the stairs. Wind your way to the east side of the building, past the Writing Center and Administrative Suite. Archives and Special Collections is through the glass doors at the opposite end of the hall. The Faulkner Room is located within Archives and Special collections on your left.

Harrison Room

Harrision Room

Named after Mr. Byron Patton Harrison, a Representative and a Senator from Mississippi, the Harrison Room is furnished with the original furniture from Mr. Byron Patton Harrison’s office.

The Harrison Room is a large meeting and event room which is used primarily by the Library, however it is sometimes made available to other groups. The room has a large meeting table which can comfortably seat twelve. The room also has two couches and additional seating. The capacity is 30-35 people. Refreshments may be served in the Harrison Room. The room does have strict usage policies.

Directions:

Enter the J.D. Williams Library from the West (fountain) side and come up the elevator or the stairs. Wind your way to the east side of the building, past the Writing Center.

If you enter from the second floor east (Lyceum) side, come up the stairs and find that the Harrison Room is on your right.

Lawrence Room

Lawrence Room

The Lawrence Room was named after publisher Seymour Lawrence. Lawrence published authors such as Kurt Vonnegut, Jr., Tim O’Brien, Susan Minot, Barry Hannah, to name a few.

The Seymour Lawrence Room located in the Department of Archives & Special Collections, third floor of the J.D. Williams Library, features an exhibit devoted to the life and work of publisher Seymour Lawrence. The room can comfortably sit 10 people, but is used primarily by Special Collections staff to work with donors or have departmental meetings.

Enter the J.D. Williams Library from the West (fountain) side and come up the elevator or the stairs. Wind your way to the east side of the building, past the Writing Center and Administrative Suite. Archives and Special Collections is through the glass doors at the opposite end of the hall. The Lawrence Room is located within Archives and Special Collections.

If you enter from the second floor east (Lyceum) side, come up the stairs and find that Archives and Special Collections is through the glass doors on your left. The Faulkner Room is located within Archives and Special Collections.
